The United States has issued fresh travel advisories for parts of the Middle East, urging American citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon and parts of Israel as the conflict involving Iran continues to widen.
In separate advisories, the US embassies in Lebanon and Israel warned that the security situation remains volatile and could deteriorate with little notice amid the escalating regional conflict.
US warns against travel to Lebanon
The US Embassy in Beirut urged American citizens to avoid travelling to Lebanon and advised those already in the region to reconsider non-essential travel across the Middle East due to the risk of a sudden escalation in hostilities.
The embassy warned that "the security environment remains complex, with the potential for unforeseen escalation," urging Americans to remain alert, closely monitor local developments and review their personal security plans before travelling.
Embassy advises against travel to parts of Israel
Separately, the US Embassy in Jerusalem advised Americans not to travel to Gaza, northern Israel and areas near the Egyptian border because of the ongoing security situation.
The embassy reiterated that the Taba border crossing remains the preferred route for travel between Israel and Egypt and advised travellers to check with airlines before departure, as flight schedules could change at short notice.
US citizens were also encouraged to enrol in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and follow updates issued by the embassy.
Advisories issued as regional conflict widens
The updated advisories come as the United States and Iran continue exchanging military strikes, raising concerns that the conflict could spread further across the region.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces struck Iranian surveillance facilities, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage sites and maritime assets during a seventh consecutive night of operations.
Iranian state media, meanwhile, said Tehran had targeted US military installations in Kuwait and Jordan, including the Al-Adiri camp, Ali Al-Salem Air Base and fuel storage facilities at Jordan's Al-Azraq base. Those claims have not been independently verified.
Iranian state media also reported explosions in the central city of Yazd and several southern provinces following the latest US strikes.
According to Iran's state-run IRIB news agency, Major General Mohsen Rezaei warned that Tehran would launch "full-scale offensive operations" if US military attacks continued.
