China’s government on Monday added 10 military-linked companies to its export control list and 46 defense and aerospace firms to its procurement list .
The list includes MP Materials and USA Rare Earth, which supply processed rare-earth materials to magnet manufacturers for use in military equipment such as the F-35 Lightning II aircraft, submarines and drones . The list also includes subsidiaries of U.S. weaponmakers such as Boeing and L3Harris Technologies.
The 10 companies on China’s Ministry of Commerce’s list were added in the agency’s efforts to “safeguard national security and interests, and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation,” per the press release.
The companies include mineral processors and subsidiaries of major defense companies.
Under the notice, exporters are immediately banned from shipping dual-use items, or products designed for commercial and military use, to the 10 companies. Furthermore, organizations and individuals from any other country or region are prohibited from transferring or supplying China-made dual-use items to the banned companies, and any ongoing transport activities should cease immediately.
If an item must be exported, the firm or individual must apply to China’s Ministry of Commerce for a permit.
The sanctions follow the U.S. Department of Defense’s own blacklist of China-based military-linked companies, issued on June 8 . The agency is required to publish a yearly report of Chinese military firms operating in the United States per the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 .
DOD’s latest list includes prominent companies such as Alibaba, BYD and CATL .
Additionally, the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2026 , which President Donald Trump signed in December 2025, bars DOD from purchasing batteries for weapons and support systems made with materials from foreign entities of concern , such as China or Russia , beginning Jan. 1, 2028.
The 46 firms on the Chinese government procurement list
China’s Ministry of Finance notice bars procurement firms from purchasing products manufactured by the 46 U.S.-designated defense and aerospace companies, effective immediately.
The sanction list includes Boeing, Anduril and Lockheed Martin. However, the restrictions do not apply to U.S. companies operating in China, according to the press release.
Multiple companies on the two lists did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the Chinese sanctions. Boeing, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin declined to comment.
