House Foreign Affairs Committee Republicans said Thursday President Donald Trump is imposing the strongest economic measures ever taken against Iran, saying the campaign will “decimate regime’s terror funding.”
“This ‘Economic D-Day’ will decimate regime’s terror funding and force it to its knees,” the committee majority said on X, adding, “Keep up the maximum pressure.”
US Representative Don Bacon said Thursday the United States should strike at the IRGC and intensify economic pressure on Tehran, adding that the best ending to the war would be for Iranians to “get their country back.”
“Until then, we should strike at the heart of the IRGC and choke their economy to death to destabilize the regime,” Bacon wrote in a post on X.
Bacon said President Donald Trump’s goals were to ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons and to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
