Now, this isn't a completely new relationship between Apple, the maker of the iPhone and the iPad, and Broadcom, one of its longtime suppliers. In 2023, the two companies said that they had a multibillion, multiyear deal to supply chips from a factory in Fort Collins, Colorado to Apple. But what this is a major expansion of that partnership. So Apple will be getting 15 billion chips from that factory in Colorado, and Broadcom is saying that it will spend $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its manufacturing capacity there.
